Burns Monument and Gardens

Burns Monument and Gardens

Less than 20 years after Burns’ death, a committee of his strongest supporters were busy making plans to memorialise the man. The result is this 70-foot high Grecian-style temple, designed by Sir Thomas Hamilton, complete with nine pillars representing muses from Greek mythology.Inside the monument there’s a three dimensional model of the many other Burns monuments across the world, showing the Bard’s global fame. Climb up the Monument’s external staircase to take in the view and then enjoy a stroll around the landscaped gardens.

Royal Troon Golf Club

Royal Troon Golf Club

Set upon the rugged coastline of the West of Scotland, the historic links of Royal Troon is one of golf’s most challenging venues. Deep rough mixed with gorse and broom combined with an unforgiving prevailing north-westerly wind make the course a true test of golfing skill and ability. One of the great links courses in Scotland, Royal Troon has hosted The Open on eight occasions since 1923.

Turnberry Golf Club

Turnberry Golf Club

Imagine rolling hills, sandy dunes, a stiff breeze blowing off the Ayrshire coast. Before designer courses, before manicured greens and major championships, these lands inspired local Scots to play the game of golf. Beloved since its first formal course was built in 1901, Turnberry's fairways have been shared by the game's elite and casual enthusiasts from around the globe. Even the conversion of its links to runways during two world wars could not diminish the desire to play here, a place made for golf, where countless competitions have been waged that shall never be forgotten. Beautiful in sun, exacting in cold and wind, Trump Turnberry Resort's three courses are both part of golf's legacy and part of its future.
